One would be hard pressed to find a provider disputing the necessity of any one item below, except maybe #6 and the charting part of #5, which should be limited by specialty. In reality, most providers already satisfy these requirements in electronic format.
great writing !Anonymoushttp://article-on-health-articles.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3503957686158274288.post-57874831623304542882010-04-13T14:09:05.062-05:002010-04-13T14:09:05.062-05:003-1-1-1 leaves a bunch of quality measure reportin...3-1-1-1 leaves a bunch of quality measure reporting and CDS to be implemented. I think it's too soon for that.
I think we should start with items that belong probably in Practice Management systems, which everybody has, and add a few things that all doctors do on paper right now, like maintain a med list and a problem list, record BP and weight and height, etc. Just move these activities from paper to the computer.
Sine ePrescribing is pretty common now and does have measurable ROI, it could serve as the stretch goal
Later on, Stage 1.5 maybe, add a few things they don't currently do and are not part of the existing workflow.

The problem I see with MU the way it is defined now is that the so called "glide path" has this big jump at the very begining. The green, yellow, red color coding is one understood by nearly the entire public from childhood on, and would, as you say, get over half the MU criteria out there. Once everyone's on board they could shoot to tighten things up for Stage 2 or 3.Michelle Whttp://www.occampm.com/blognoreply@blogger.com
