I saw an announcement when they were released, but was suffering a bit of rules burnout at the time (I still haven't ploughed through much of the MU rule).

From this analysis, it looks sadly like we're back to the Microsoft issue. Much as we all love to hate that giant, the widespread adoption of Word meant that when you wrote a Doc, you could count on just about anyone with a computer reading it (it's still considered a standard document file type). You could also see it in terms of the VHS v. Betamax war, or the recent Blu-ray/HiDef DVD battle. In all cases, a standard arose that allowed ease of transfer for media; it wasn't necessarily the "best," but it let everyone know what the rules were to play by, simplifying matters for manufacturers, retailers, and consumers.

Sounds like we need more standard agreement in HIT.Michelle Whttp://www.occampm.com/blognoreply@blogger.com
